Termly Focus - Autumn Term 2021

Posted: Sep 23, 2021 by: charlottedowson on: Senior 3 Termly Focus

This term, during the ‘All About Me’ topic, Senior 3 will be involved in a variety of investigations linked to their senses. We will be going out into the community to see what we can see, look at different signs and hunt for items to use during our classroom activities. There will be plenty of messy and explorative play throughout the term involving different materials for everyone to touch, smell and even taste. The whole class will also be taking part in group music sessions using the resonance board and items linked to our school ‘Shabang’ songs as well as making our own musical instruments.

During our art sessions we will be using mirrors and photographs to identify ourselves and our friends in preparation for creating self-portraits and pictures of others. We will also use photographs, requested from home, to identify our family members and where possible label who we can see using written words or sign language. We will also make sure to celebrate the different upcoming events such as Bonfire night and Christmas with lots of interactive activities and art work.

Throughout the term Senior 3 will continue with their 1:1 programmes that have been specifically adapted to them, we will continue with stimulus response tasks such as hand washing and toast making to build up their competency and fluency. Throughout the week there will continue to be group activities such as baking, going to the shops, swimming, PE sessions and visiting the rebound room, these will assist in building up social skills and group interactions.

It is certainly going to be a busy term but we are all really looking forward to it.
