Our school council is made up of a group of students who have been elected by their peers to represent their views and raise issues with the Senior managers and Governors of the school.
- It gives our students the opportunity to let adults know their feelings and opinions about things that affect them.
- It gives them a say about decisions and allows them to play an active role in making their school a better place.
- It aids them in developing life skills through participation.
The school council often organises fundraisers for various charities e.g. Children in Need, Jeans for Genes, McMillian Coffee Morning. School council meetings take place termly and are organised by our school council co-ordinator, Donna Coupland.

Cash 4 Kids
On the last day of the autumn term, Friday 21st December, a few members of the School Council had a trip to Viking FM radio station in Hull. We have chosen to help raise money and get involved in their Cash 4 Kids project. This means that throughout the school year we get involved in the Super Hero day, Christmas Jumper day and the Mission Christmas as well as becoming a drop off point for toy gifts around the Christmas period. This is all to help raise awareness of disadvantaged children in our area. All funds raised stay local and last year they helped over 19,000 kids in our region.
The School Council decided that they wanted to try their hardest to get lots of toys collected for the children who were going to wake up on Christmas morning with nothing under the tree. We are very pleased to say we managed to collect lots of toys from our pupil's families and friends and we wanted to take them to the studio ourselves and both Donna & Sean made this possible.
The sixth form also sung carols at the Flemingate in Beverley to raise money for the appeal.
Viking FM were delighted with our donations and they were very impressed with us as a school. They have invited us back to the studio early in the new year to visit the station.
