Outstanding Owls

27 January 2021 (by charlottedowson)

This week the Owls have been engaging with sensory play during art, which made reference to our termly weather topic. Here you can see the children using sensory play to make clouds for our art display which promotes cognitive growth and language development. They enjoyed discussing the colours and textures of resources whilst using signs and verbal communication to discuss different types of clouds. The children explored colour mixing, used their fine motor skills when sticking and threading, and also took part in self resourcing by collecting items required for the activity independently. Sometimes it was hard for the students to thread beads onto their clouds, but they showed fantastic perseverance with this by sustaining their attention throughout. All children worked hard and impressed us with their capabilities, as all were able to follow two step instructions during the activity. The children showed fantastic initiation, as they knew how to create an impact by mixing two colours together to achieve the desired outcome of a new colour.

Good work Owls!!
