Termly Focus - Spring Term 2022

charlottedowson on: Rabbit Termly Focus

Spring Term is always an exciting time in the Rabbit classroom as the days are getting lighter and the weather is getting better. This means that we can get out and about more often and explore different places. As always, there is a big focus on teaching the children to communicate their wants and needs through their individualised programmes and interacting with all of their favourite toys and activities. We will also continue to develop the children's tolerance to various situations they will encounter in their lives - teeth brushing, showering, waiting, walking appropriately, being told no and turn taking. The children in Rabbit class will also continue to develop their independence in their life skills such as making their own toast for snack, washing up and dressing themselves. Alongside all of this the children will take part in different group activities - horse riding, baking, music, swimming, PE and literacy.
This term's topic is Growing and Changing so we will be exploring how flowers grow from seeds, decorating our own plant pot to grow cress, learning how we grow up from babies to adults, as well as exploring how our food grows.

Termly Focus - Autumn Term 2021

charlottedowson on: Rabbit Termly Focus

This term Rabbit class will be focusing on getting back into the routine of school after having been off on summer holidays. Staff will focus on 'pairing' themselves up with reinforcement with each child so that they are seen as good fun people to be around. Then the hard work starts! We will be concentrating on building up and improving each child's form of communication by creating activities and games where the children have to ask for lots of different items and objects.
Each child will be following their own individualised 1:1 programme, focusing on areas of communication that need strengthening, whilst also learning to tolerate lots of different situations - teeth brushing, showering, waiting, walking appropriately, being told no and turn taking. Some children are also going to be taking part in some independent skills sessions where they learn to make their own toast for snack and then how to wash up afterwards!
As well as their 1:1 sessions, the children will be taking part in various group sessions throughout the week, such as baking, music, literacy, art, PE and swimming.

This term's topic is All About Me, so we will be doing lots of activities exploring who each child is - looking at their families, making self portraits, discovering their likes and dislikes, and many more!

This term we will be continuing to work through the children's Individualised programmes, concentrating on building up and improving each child's form of communication by creating activities and games where the children have to ask for lots of different items and objects.
The children will also continue to take part in independent skills sessions where they are learning to make their own toast for snack and then how to wash up afterwards! As well as this, the children will be taking part in various group sessions throughout the week, such as baking, music, literacy, art, PE and swimming.

This terms topic is 'On the move' so the children in Rabbit class will be looking at lots of different ways we move around. This will include creating different vehicles in arts and craft sessions or baking, and looking at different ways of moving in PE.

This term's topic is all about the Seasons and Weather so there will be plenty of art and craft sessions exploring this, as well as lots of sensory play with ice cubes, water, wind and light.

ABA Lower

Christmas Fun

abalower on: ABA Lower

It was fun putting up the Christmas tree

The boys worked so hard, they needed to chill out!

Our trip to Piglets Adventure Farm was lovely

First playing outside, bouncing, riding Go Carts and tractors

Then it was time for the Sleigh ride!!!

Mrs Claus took us to see Santa!!

He wrote our names in his book (His pen only worked if we had been good)

He gave everyone a magic key

The boys put their keys in to the lock to get in to the toy shop

Everyone choose a toy.

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!!
